The upload_tmp_dir (/tmp/phpupload/ in my case) is displayed properly in a phpinfo() display but uploaded files are actually created in /tmp/

Also related (I believe) is the fact that is an invalid file is specified to be uploaded (i.e. a file that does not exist on the client system) a 0 byte temparary file is created in /tmp/ and is not cleaned up (i.e. it remains there forever)

configuration command : ./configure' '--with-mysql' '--with-apxs'

Please try PHP 4.0.4pl1 as this should be fixed in it.
