In documentation and PHP3.x "free decsriptor" function calls as OCIFreeDescriptor(), but in PHP4.04pl1 this function named as OCIFreeDesc(). I think its wrong from backward compatibility point of view.

do not use this function - it has no effect if called like 
this:

OCIFreeDescriptor($lob);

instead use $lob->free(); which has not changed between 
PHP 3 -> PHP 4
