It's stated in the manual that PHP 7 supports dbase, provided you add the --enable-dbase flag to compile-time config. That flag doesn't work. So either dbase functionality no longer exists in the runtime or it's behind a different flag. Either way, the docs lie :(

Actually, dbase has been moved to PECL.

Yep, so the docs should reflect that. Except the version that's in PECL right now doesn't work with 7.0+. Though I just pulled down https://github.com/mote0230/dbase-pecl-php7 and will report back on whether it works properly.

There has been a commit to the repo[1], which says:

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
