This driver returns all column data as a string, regardless of how it's represented in the DB. It would be better if data were handled the same as in php_mssql_get_column_content_with_type(). If this driver were sensitive to the PDO::ATTR_STRINGIFY_FETCHES attribute (and it defaulted to true), this change could be made without impacting existing users.

I've done a rough version of this change. I could tidy it up into a pull request if desired.
