Description:
------------
---
From manual page: http://www.php.net/pdo.rollback
---
The second paragraph reads:

If the database was set to autocommit mode, this function will restore autocommit mode after it has rolled back the transaction.

I am not knowledgeable on transactions and PDO autocommit mode, but I cannot make sense of that. If the database is in autocommit mode, how can the transaction be rolled back? Or in other words, which transaction would be rolled back?
