[2000-08-27 15:18 UTC] pender at interactive dot net
After my Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 1 computer boots, the "W3SVC" never starts, It is stuck in the "Starting.." stage, It never gets to the "Started" stage. If you go to the command line and type the command to stop the service, "net stop w3svc", the service gets stuck in the "Stopping..." mode. Also, the "Internet Services Manager" application in the Administrative Tools section does not load, you click on it and nothing appears to happen.

Can you please try with latest version of php, also can you detail anything else you have running, I see you have sp1 there were a few problems with that but I think they were fixed in 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 so its worth upgrading, Ill see if I can dig up the other bug reports. If these do not fix the problem can you please detail if you have anything else running with IIS.. exchange etc, it might be a known problem.

Thanks

James

Jim

Can you try running php.exe in a command window. I suspect you may then get
to see an error message which would serve as a clue as to why the php isapi
module won't start up.

Cheers

After some fiddling, I was able to get PHP(newest version) to work,
these are the results of the phpinfo() function. I just got rid of all of
the files that had to do with previous versions of PHP, uninstalled IIS,
reinstalled it and PHP and everything works beautifully!

phpinfo()

PHP Version 4.0.3pl1

System Windows NT 5.0 build 2195
Build Date Oct 15 2000
Server API ISAPI
Virtual Directory Support enabled
Configuration File (php.ini) Path php.ini
ZEND_DEBUG disabled
Thread Safety enabled

Now to get zend and get that to work... :)

Thanks for all your help!
