We need to use a DB instead of files for storing the session-data since we are running a site over multiple servers. We wrote a routine using session_set_save_handler() from the example on php.net but noticed that the write routine is never used? It's seems like a bug? It's really important for us since this is in a production system and we have the session-data on a unreliable NFS-server today.

fine, this is already a bug report, thus I?ll add my last post on this:

well, the windows support seems to be somewhat buggy with
custom save handlers. I noticed no crashes like Richard did,
but it did not work.
the sesssion_save_path seems to be the problem, regardless
of the path I enter, PHP tells me

Warning: Failed to write session data. Please check that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

I tried the standard settint (/tmp) which usually works
with non-custom save handlers, I tried "c:\\" "c:/" and
many others, always the same.

The php.net example gives this:

open (d:/tmp, ALPHPSESSID) read (e559af6c81a235dc874cc4bd12e20844) d:/tmp
Warning: Failed to write session data. Please check that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (d:/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

nothing more.

The zend.com example does not work too.

Can anyone (besides Richard) verify this on win32?

I experienced no crashes on this with latest CVS...

The write/close handlers are called during the request shutdown where you cannot send any data to the client.
