Thank you for any direction about this, I've seen that a similar bug was opened for FreeBSD 6.2 but it seems to be abandoned.

It builds fine for me on an up to date FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE box

% pkg_info | grep libidn
libidn-1.22         Internationalized Domain Names command line tool

Could you check if your libidn has the stringprep_check_version symbol?

nm -o /usr/local/lib/libidn.so | grep stringprep_check_version

You may just need to update your libidn.
