Bug #59119 PECL compiles but object file missing
Submitted: 2010-03-15 20:34 UTC Modified: 2010-03-21 14:45 UTC
From: p dot chapman dot uk at gmail dot com Assigned:
Status: Not a bug Package: memcached (PECL)
PHP Version: 5.3.0 OS: Fedora 12 & RHEL 4
Private report: No CVE-ID: None
[2010-03-15 20:34 UTC] p dot chapman dot uk at gmail dot com
Description:
------------
I use pecl to install memcached (1.0.1).
It appears to compile and install fine (see log below), but the resulting object file is nowhere to be found.

Im unsure if this is a pecl config problem/bug, or whether its due to memcached pecl package. If I've misreported it, Im sorry.

Im just a bit stumped since I've used pecl before without any problems, and on another server, I ran into a whole heap of problems trying to compile it manually (after libmemcached was installed successfully).

Thanks

Libraries have been installed in:
   /var/tmp/pear-build-root/memcached-1.0.1/modules

If you ever happen to want to link against installed libraries
in a given directory, LIBDIR, you must either use libtool, and
specify the full pathname of the library, or use the `-LLIBDIR'
flag during linking and do at least one of the following:
   - add LIBDIR to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variable
     during execution
   - add LIBDIR to the `LD_RUN_PATH' environment variable
     during linking
   - use the `-Wl,--rpath -Wl,LIBDIR' linker flag
   - have your system administrator add LIBDIR to `/etc/ld.so.conf'

See any operating system documentation about shared libraries for
more information, such as the ld(1) and ld.so(8) manual pages.

Expected result:
----------------
Expected to find memcached.so in PHP extension dir, or at least somewhere on the fs. It appears to build to /var/tmp and then get nuked.

Sorry, but your problem does not imply a bug in PECL itself. For a
list of more appropriate places to ask for help using PECL, please
visit http://pecl.php.net/support.php as this bug system is not the
appropriate forum for asking support questions.

Thank you for your interest in PECL.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't look like a memcached extension problem. There's something wrong with your PEAR/PECL set up.
