I'm on the other hand getting a bunch of different errors which don't seem to be related to missing development headers.

I'm trying to compile it on the current Debian/Lenny stable with no luck so far.

What I need to install else to get it working?

I've resolved this problem on my ubuntu desktop by installing libkrb5-dev, then I've passed configure script, but get errors when compiling using make:

To avoid this error install the package libkrb5-dev under 
Ubuntu. It now runs until the error in the message above.

Due to this extension not seeing any activity since 2003, this issue will not be fixed. We are therefore closing this now.
