Bug #5587 pfsockopen does not open persistent connection
Submitted: 2000-07-14 10:21 UTC Modified: 2000-07-30 23:47 UTC
From: kai at europeonline dot net Assigned:
Status: Closed Package: Misbehaving function
PHP Version: 4.0.0 OS: Linux Ansi 2.2.15
Private report: No CVE-ID: None
[2000-07-14 10:21 UTC] kai at europeonline dot net
The following steps were done:
1. I open a tcp connection with pfsockopen#
2. I serialize the returned value and put it in a html form
3. User interaction causes page to reload
4. I unserialize the saved value
5. I write with fputs to the persistent socket

The socket seems to be open (persistent) on the server, but writing to the socket
does not work. Even reloading the page and always opening new sockets will not
change the value of the variable storing the locator which must be unique.

the socket, as any persistent connection, is
only persistent within a single webserver process
and not at all for cgi based installations

this is not a bug, just the way it is
(for further information see the manual
 annotations regarding this function)
