Doc Bug #50874 Version on finfo seems incorrect
Submitted: 2010-01-28 18:18 UTC Modified: 2010-01-29 10:43 UTC
From: pinkgothic at gmail dot com Assigned:
Status: Not a bug Package: Documentation problem

Description:
------------
A very minor oddity: The finfo manual pages all quote (PHP >= 5.3.0, PECL fileinfo >= 0.1.0).

All functionality described in the 'Fileinfo Functions' section, including the object-oriented style, however, is definitely available in 5.2.6, and according to comments on the manual page itself, even as far back as 5.2.1.

If I'm reading it wrong, please accept my sincere apologies :( but it has me scratching my head as to what exactly is supposed to be PHP >= 5.3.0.

Reproduce code:
---------------
---
From manual page: function.finfo-open#Description
---
N/A

Expected result:
----------------
N/A

Actual result:
--------------
N/A

Okay, I have to remedy my initial assumption of no-PECL. Have checked and double-checked didn't reveal anything in phpinfo() that might've hinted at PECL's fileinfo being added, but investigating reveals that "yeah, uh, I vaguely remember doing something with fileinfo before" from our package admin, so >.<

Nrgh. Very sorry about that :|

Not sure what would make it not show up in phpinfo(), but I am fairly sure that's our problem, so, closing this as bogus. Sorry again.
