I'm trying to install PHP version 4.0 as a DSO on a Mac OS X Developer Preview 4 system (G4, 128 MB RAM) but it fails. The configure scripts are not recognizing 'Darwin' which is the result of uname -s. I've changed all the references of 'rhapsody' to 'darwin' that I could find in the configure scripts but still it would not install as a DSO.

I have been able to make the same changes ('rhapsody' to 'darwin') to the PHP version 3.0.16 configure scripts and have had that successfully install and run on this same system.

The error in the make install process for php 4.0 reads:
...
Configuring libtool
checking build system type... Invalid configuration 'powerpc-apple-Darwin1.1': system 'Darwin1.1' not recognized
...

References to Rhapsody need to be changed to Darwin in the install scripts.

Please verify that it?s still happening using the latest version of PHP (release 4.0.1pl2 or CVS).

Should be fixed. Please try CVS or snaps.php.net.
Reopen this report if problem still persists.
