I try to get some old code running on my apache+php 5.2.8 laptop, then i turn 'short_open_tag = On'

but, code with tags like 
[code]<? phpinfo(); [/code]
cant be parsed as it should be, while code like 
[code]<?='asdf'?>[/code]
works

Reproduce code:
---------------
[code]<? phpinfo(); [/code]


Expected result:
----------------
PHP info page

Actual result:
--------------
direct output : <? phpinfo();

Most likely the php.ini file you edited is NOT the one used by PHP. And this is not a bug.
