Bug #4578 segfault with mod_auth_mysql and PHP4
Submitted: 2000-05-24 18:42 UTC Modified: 2000-07-26 00:47 UTC
From: josepht at cstone dot net Assigned:
Status: Closed Package: Reproducible Crash
PHP Version: 4.0.0 Release OS: FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE
Private report: No CVE-ID: None

Server Version: Apache/1.3.12 (Unix) PHP/4.0.0 AuthMySQL/2.20 mod_ssl/2.6.4 OpenSSL/0.9.5

Accessing a site with mysql authentication crashes the child process. (works with PHP3.x)

gdb backtrace:
Program received signal SIGBUS, Bus error.

without the .htaccess file (i.e. no mysql auth) works fine.

If you are using mod_mysql_auth, ensure that you do not use the default mysql support.

Please try a new release of php - it will have instructions on how to compile php without using the built-in mysql support.
