Please have a look at the code below. I also tried to use a Variant, which doesn't worked out for me. Also "$mycom->myFunction( &$FunctionName );" doesn't work.

Tried with PHP version " RC6-dev" and ""

Reproduce code:
$mycom = new COM('my.own');
//$FunctionName = 'a'; // **doesn't work either
$mycom->myFunction( $FunctionName ); /* VT_PTR [26] [out] --> VT_BSTR [8]  */
var_dump($FunctionName); // '' or 'a'**

Expected result:

Actual result:
'' or 'a' (when using "$FunctionName = 'a';")

In Delphi it looks like this (and is working):

procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject);
  mycom: Variant;
  FunctionName: String;
  mycom := CreateOleObject('my.own'); // or CreateComObject

Please do not submit the same bug more than once. An existing
bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel
that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same.

Thank you for your interest in PHP.
