See #35311. I am trying to report that a bug closed as 'bogus' is in fact still a real outstanding bug, but after spending several minutes typing up a retort on the elusive 'add a comment page', it tells me:

You can not add comments for bugs with the statuses:Closed, Duplicate,
Wont fix, Bogus, Stale

In this case (#17904), I would like to agree with the original poster that this is a valid problem, and one which still exists, and urge that the bug report be re-opened, but I am unable to do so. I am particulatly unhappy that it didn't tell me this *before* I typed up my comment!


Expected result:

The ability to comment on and/or re-open closed bugs. Otherwise, we end up with tons of duplicate bug reports with no history.

OK, so #17904 is now solved (at least in the 5.1 PHP version I have on a Ubuntu Dapper Beta machine kicking around. I may not want to re-open that bug any more, but it would still be nice to be able to add a comment to it stating that it's actually been fixed already.

Only original bug reporter(and developers) can re-open 
reports. This will not change.

After closing reports there shouldn't be reason to add any 
further comments to it, especially if its bogus report.

In case you feel this is valid report feel free to submit 
new one with detailed description on why its valid, be sure 
to read the old report carefully so you don't waste your 
time, and ours, in submitting yet another bogus report.

Regarding the 'add comment' tab it isn't displayed on 
closed reports, so I have no idea how you managed to write 
something there.

Regarding bug #17904 it was expected behaviour at the time 
and therefor marked as bogus.
