Description:
------------
MySQL 4.x has been there for a long time. So, it would be really great if it is supported by default with the windows binary provided.
It would be even better if all the 4.x.x versions are supported.

Latest PHP5 already comes with mysql 4.1.7 client libs. Things are more complicated with PHP4 where the client code is bundled with the PHP source and due to MySQL's license change cannot be upgrade to version 4.x.x.

There is a possibility that there will be a non-official PHP build with external MySQL library so stay tuned.
