Bug #30990 popen: 'b' flag broken in Linux, not defaulted in Windows
Submitted: 2004-12-06 03:45 UTC Modified: 2004-12-07 00:32 UTC
From: abk at avatartechnology dot com Assigned:
Status: Closed Package: Program Execution
PHP Version: 4.3.8 OS: Windows 2003
Private report: No CVE-ID: None
[2004-12-06 03:45 UTC] abk at avatartechnology dot com
Description:
------------
It appears that popen($command, 'r') DOES translate newlines on Windows 2003 -- contrary to documentation of fopen that implies it should default to binary mode. Changing the mode to 'rb' fixes the problem, but generates a warning and fails to open the pipe on Linux:

Warning: popen(/usr/bin/unzip -p "/home/web/aktestb.avatartech.com/public/media_libraries/config_import.cic",rb): Invalid argument
