Funktion mail() needs a long time to generate the Next output Page, like some Formmailers which are runnig without Probs on other Servers

PHP just passes the generated mail on to the sendmail binary on Unix. As the mail() code will wait for this sendmail subprocess exit code before returning it is actually a problem of your sendmail installation on that box, not a PHP problem
