Hi, 
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.ini-set.php says 
safe_mode is only changeable in php.ini, 
http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.safe-mode.php 
says it is PHP_INI_SYSTEM. 
 
ini_set docs for safe_mode are wrong, safe_mode could  be 
set in httpd.conf via 
php_admin_flag safe_mode 0ff 
 
At least with 4.3.6 and apache 1.3.x

This was a problem in my script (because I thought safe mode could be only set in php.ini).
It's now fixed!
