I am using Apache 2.0.49 on Windows XP home SP1.
I installed the latest PHP 5CVS-2004-05-08. If I try to start Apache with PHP 
and mysqli module I get the warning:
PHP Startup: mysqli: Unable to initialize module
Module compiled with module API=20040412, debug=0, thread-safety=1
PHP compiled with module API=20040316, debug=0, thread-safety=1
These options need to match

You have mixed up two php releases/snaps.
