I was using the header function to create a redirect using the "Location" HTTP header. It seems that Apache is sensitive about the syntax of the header sent.
In the general format <header-name>: <header value> there must be no space between the <header-name> and the proceeding ":" (colon). 

eg. header("Location : www.somesite.php");

Somehow any spaces between the two doesn't allow the header to be interpreted properly under Apache (1.xx) and as a result it does not produce the desired result (redirection in my case) but it works out fine on IIS 5.0
I spent an hour trying to debug this, hope someone will benefit from this.
