Description:
------------
I'm running Apache 1.3.9 and PHP as a module. After I perform the upgrade (as documented by PHP), Apache will not start.

On another web server I use that utilizes Apache 2.0.48, the exact same thing occurs.

The php4ts files were present in the SAPI directory as well as the SYSTEM32 directory.

PHP 4.3.4 works without errors on both systems.

You're doing something wrong, you're loading some 3rd party extension, etc. It works fine with proper configuration.

Sorry...no 3rd party extensions loaded at ALL...use INI that distibutes with package as is with MINOR exception - PATHS...deleted OLD INI....BTW.

Again, PHP 4.3.4 works without exception.

Finally, managed to get it running; however, Zend Server and/or Optimizer causes the Apache will not start not to occur again. ?Curious since PHP is built on the Zend engine?

Corrected previous comment for clarity...

The Zend engine in PHP is open source, their other closed-source extensions are their responsibility, ask them (and leave this bug set to bogus)
