User notes get removed and integrated to the manual regulary. Your notes might have been inapropriate to that manual page, or appropriate enough to integrate. User notes are actievly moderated.

Thanks for an explanation. So is it possible to send a mail about that notes have been removed and why (by user note system)? E.g. do you think that this note is inapropriate? I can't see that it's integrated in the manual. And can I see where my note http://news.php.net/article.php?group=php.notes&article=60861 ended?

We do send mails out to the submitters if the note was rejected, and the email address of the submitter seems to be something real. It might have happened that you used some mail address, like you have done for this bug report, and you have not read the incoming mails on that address, or the note maintainer who removed your note thought that it is pointless to try and send a rejection mail to your address, as it seems to be unreal. You can find a history of actions taken on notes in the php.notes newsgroup at news.php.net (also archived at some sites, eg. phparch.com).

Please don't change the status of this bug again.
Your first note was deleted because of what the developpers told you : this is not a PHP issue.

The second one shows that you didn't read all the warnings saying that the notes are not the appropriate place to report documentation bugs (a missing parameter in the prototype is a bug). the note have been rejected and a mail was sent to warn you about it :

I am sorry for disturbing you again. I read all incoming mail and I didn't recieve anything about my note removal. Didou, you have removed my note - was it the case "it is pointless to try and send a rejection mail to your address"? Why there is this case at all?

About my recode note: Do you think it's not useful for users to know that this function doesn't work as they expect? It doesn't matter if it is caused by recode, by PHP or by something in the middle. (Because recode from command-line works pretty well.) It took me about an hour to find that the problem in my script is caused by incorrect behavior of this function and another time to find that developers know about it, can't do anything with it and recommend to use another function. I just wanted to save this time to other users. What's the meaning of user notes? I thought it's to save a time to another users.

About openssl_csr_sign note: You are right that better place for stating different parameters is a bug system. So how is it possible, that there is a user note (by fe_at_pleiade_dot_it) saying the same (only without last parameter)?

http://news.php.net/article.php?group=php.notes&article=60867 reads :
"note 37692 rejected from function.openssl-csr-sign by vincent"
The maintainer (vincent, not me in this case) rejected the note, this action means that a mail is sent. Maybe our mail server had some problems this day, or your ISP did, or whatever... who knows ?

I deleted the recode note, this action doesn't send a mail : http://www.php.net/manual/howto/chapter-user-notes.html
Maybe it was wrong to delete your note, and maybe it deserve to be integrated in the manual, but AFAIR, I've seen your note, I've seen the two bugs reports marked as bogus. Plus "PHP guys say that it's not their problem, even if the command-line recode works well" sounded like a complaint to me. I choosed to delete it.
Why don't you fill in a bug report for this ? Or better, send a patch for the documentation, I'll be glad to commit it for you.

>> So how is it possible, that there is a user note (by fe_at_pleiade_dot_it) saying the same (only without last parameter)?

It's possible because there are currently 8482 notes in the online manual and only 3 or 4 active maintainers. We can't deal with *all* the notes.

Note also that we don't get paid for our work on the notes and that we do this to help the community and to keep the manual as clean as possible (even if it's impossible :) ). So please don't bug for other notes. If you want to help, get involved in the PHP Project and do so.

We are having a discussion that will maybe ends with a new note system (better handling/explicit reasons for deleting a note/nitegration system, etc..), maybe you can add your 2 cents in the thread I've started ?

Read the answers to this thread before replying.

Now, can we stop bugging this bug report ? ;)
