For anyone attempting to install PHP manually on Windows XP Pro with IIS 5.1, such as those of us trying to test the new PHP 5.0 beta 1, please note the following problem
described in this Microsoft Knowledge Base article:;EN-US;318393

It would be great if you could add this to install.txt
or the installation section of the online documentation (so we'd all know how to work around this IIS bug).

This problem was also reported as bug #14041.
