It seems that it's exactly the same bug as #900. The script stops with this backtrace :

I've a script to reproduce this problem. It's too long to be included here but i can send it to anyone interested.

PHP : 3.0.12
Apache : 1.3.9
MySQL : 3.22.25 (the MySQL server is on a Linux box).

Unfortunately, PHP 3 is no longer supported. Please download
the latest version of PHP 4 from http://www.php.net/downloads.php

If you are able to reproduce the bug with one of the latest
versions of PHP, please change the PHP version on this bug report
to the version you tested and change the status back to "Open".
