1. Go to www.php.net
2. Type something e.g. "foreach" in search box and select "Whole Site" for search scope.
3. Submit search... get results.
4. Now type something else in search box, leave scope at default value (Function List).
5. Submit search... it tries to submit to:-
     http://search.php/search.php

Needless to say my browser has a hard time resolving this domain :)

I cannot reproduce this with the steps you provided. Re-open if you find more information or a definate cause...

this is totally a problem, Andrew look harder next time. Assigning to goba -- he broke it today. Making it critical because it's got our search pretty broken.

Sorry, but I still can't reproduce this. I'm sure I followed all the steps you provided, but it's not causing any abnormal behavior for me.

go to http://www.php.net/search.php?pattern=heredoc&lang=en and look how the image isn't displayed (phplogo) as well as links are broken....

Don't use the critical status for some website bugs.
They're hardly ever critical, like in this case.

Still works fine for me...:-/

Yes, I broke it, but it depens on the browser, hwo it interprets
the problematic HTML fragment :)

I have added some <base> code to have the links point to the
right site on the search page, and apprantly I have added a
bug with it, which prints:

 <base href="search.php" /></head>

Into the <head>, in case of there is no base ;)

BTW the page also works fine for me with Konqueror, so
Andrew is probably not blind to see the error ;)

I am on fixing this.
