I am running php cgi in /usr/local/bin and my scripts are in /cgi-bin. Combining #!/usr/local/bin/php, chmod's and apache directives AllowExecCGI this works fine; but when I try to exec() a program anywhere outside /cgi-bin it does nothing. Is it a matter of PHP or Apache?

./configure --with-mysql --enable-ftp --enable-sockets --with-ncurses

This has nothing to do with PHP
