Hi there,

I just thought I'd make this suggestion, sorry I couldn't find the regular place to contact you.

I do (like many) a lot of searching on your site. If you could code the onload property of the <body> to focus the cursor on that first search field, you would make many of us happy. It's a 15 minute upgrade which will collectively save many hours of time, so it's definitely worth it.

Thanks for the great site, sure you've seen mySQL's site recently, I'm very impressed with the new look and feel.

Your suggestion has been proposed by others in the past (feel free to use the 'Advanced Search' on the bugs.php.net site to see previous discussions on this thread), however it has been agreed not to do this for a variety of reasons (again see prior requests).

I would like to make certain, however, that you're aware of www.php.net's intelligent search rewrite. Browsing to a URL of "http://www.php.net/blah" will automatically search the php.net site for "blah" (or whatever word you enter there) with preference given to function definitions (the most common search type).

For example: http://www.php.net/mysql_connect

automatically searches on "mysql_connect" and redirects to:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-connect.php

Similar to entering "mysql_connect" in the search bar.

Why bother loading the home page at all?
