Seems to be a problem with the mbstring extension and arrays being used as names of the input fields in forms.

If you use the following code
<?php

echo '<pre>';
print_r($_POST);
echo '</pre>';

?>
<form method="post">
<input type="text" name="array[]" size="8" />
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="test" />
</form>

It shows the example best, if the mbstring extension is enabled when you type any text into the text field it will remove the first four characters.
