Scripts with imap-functions work perfectly when called by browser (http://www.mydomain.com/imap.php) - they send and receive mail.

However, when the (exact same!) scripts are called from commandline (php /path_to_script/imap.php or with !#/usr/bin/php added as first line) execution simply halts as soon as any imap-function is called like

$conn = @imap_open("\{$server/imap}INBOX", $user, $pass);

Even "or die(mysql_error());" behind the imap-functions doesn't react.

Other scripts with e.g. databasemanipulation work fine from commandline so it has to be imap/commandline-combination.

Sorry, but the bug system is not the appropriate forum for asking
support questions. Your problem does not imply a bug in PHP itself.

Thank you for your interest in PHP.

Works fine here on three different architectures. You're doing something wrong.
