After having experienced severe problems dowloading the documentation using IE6 HTTP download I suggest that there be an anonymous FTP alternative for downloads.

IE6 broke the file (md5sum was incorrect) in exactly the same way three times from three different mirrors. The only way was to use an old copy of Netscape that did the job.

A link to the ftp site would do.

Apparently, IE6 can't handle .bzip2 fiels. I don't really feel like working around all bugs in bad browsers...

To add an additional ftp-download ist not a good idea, when the only reason is that you're using a buggy browser.

You can also grab the manual via rsync (see http://www.php.net/mirroring.php)
