While attempting to build PHP 4.2.2 with Apache 2 support, I ran across this problem on HP-UX 11i. You are using a macro that Apache deems as dead, thus causing a nasty compiler error.
In sapi/apache2filter/php_functions.c:93, you have:
#if !MODULE_MAGIC_AT_LEAST(20020506,0)
but this should be changed to:
#if !AP_MODULE_MAGIC_AT_LEAST(20020506,0)

You can see this by looking at Apache 2.0.39:
# find . -name "*.h"| xargs grep MODULE_MAGIC_AT_LEAST
./include/ap_mmn.h:#define MODULE_MAGIC_AT_LEAST old_broken_macro_we_hope_you_are_not_using

This bug has been fixed in CVS. You can grab a snapshot of the
CVS version at http://snaps.php.net/. In case this was a documentation 
problem, the fix will show up soon at http://www.php.net/manual/.
In case this was a PHP.net website problem, the change will show
