Retrieving data with mysql_fetch_array or mysql_fetch_object.
If have less than 64 kb of data in field - everything is Ok.
If have more than 64 kb of data in field, function returns an array with values ,contains parts of data of that long field. Looks like overflow. Array values overwrites with overflow part.

PS Mysql 3.23.39

Please try this snapshot:

The bundled libmysql was updated recently to 3.23.48.

I have already recompile mysql to 3.23.51 and php to 4.2.1 (stable)
Everything is Ok.

But that bug was with mysql 3.23.39 and
php 2.2.1 and 2.0.6
Tested on Redhat 6.2 2.2.15
and AspLinux 7.2 4.4.19

Looks like that bug was for 3.23.39 libmysql.
PS (other programs works ok on that version with large fields)

This bug has been fixed in CVS. You can grab a snapshot of the
CVS version at http://snaps.php.net/. In case this was a documentation
problem, the fix will show up soon at http://www.php.net/manual/.
In case this was a PHP.net website problem, the change will show
up on the PHP.net site and on the mirror sites.
Thank you for the report, and for helping us make PHP better.
