--with-gdbm

from the configure script:
checking for gdbm_open in -lgdbm... yes
checking for GDBM support... yes
checking for PCRE support... yes

btw. i get the same error with php-4.2.1

(and i _dont_ if i work without gdbm)

What was the full configure line and which exact
snapshot did you use?

 [2002-06-20 01:29 UTC] bugzilla at cm51-210 dot liwest dot at
./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs2 --with-gdbm

i did not use a snapshot, i got latest version
from cvs.

Can you please try with a plain './configure' line..ie. without any options. (And delete config.cache first!)

tried with very last cvs version:

if i ./configure without any options, it
compiles fine.

(well there is an warning at the very end:
ext/mysql/libmysql/my_tempnam.o: In function
`my_tempnam':
/usr/src/php4/ext/mysql/libmysql/my_tempnam.c:103:
the use of `tempnam' is dangerous, better use
`mkstemp'

but it works.

(i needed gdbm for phpwiki. i now use mysql to
replace gdbm)

What's the gdbm version? (which linux distro, btw?)

 [2002-06-29 13:04 UTC] bugzilla at cm51-210 dot liwest dot at
...well there is a file called
/usr/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0 :-) .. may be my gdbm
version (?)

distro = redhat 7.3
kernel = 2.4.18-grsec-1.9.4
gcc = gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3
2.96-110)
libtool = ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.4.2
(1.922.2.54 2001/09/11 03:33:37)

Okay, it's not that, I have the same. It's propably that
GCC you have installed. I suggest you update it.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=gcc+2.96

Those couple of first links explain a bit why I wouldn't
use that version..

works with upgraded gcc 3.1
