Using the latest version of the GD library to include the ability to make GIF images on the fly with PHP3 produces a compile time error when compiling Apache with the php module.
As per the maker of the GD library. The library has been rewritten and no longer includes support for GIF images. Function names have been changed and you will have to rewrite your program.
The new support is for PNG format images.
Also an older version of the GD library with GIF support doesn't seem to be available. i have an email into the author to see if there is one someplace.

I can't believe they didn't change the major version number,
or rename the package, or do anything sensible like that.

I'm hacking in support for this as we speak.

Should be fixed in the latest CVS.

Of course, then you can't create GIFs any more.
