I just installed a Linux RedHat 7.2 and applied all updates. I wanted to compile PHP 4.1.1 and apache 1.3.23, but:

./configure --with-apache=/usr/local/src/apache_1.3.23 \ --with-ldap --with-mcrypt=/usr/local/libmcrypt --with-pgsql --with-gd --enable-safe-mode --with-exec-dir --with-config-file-path=/usr/local/php/etc --with-zlib --with-ttf

And configure continues without failing. But generated Makefiles are empty and compilation is impossible.
Same problem with php 4.1.0.
I tried 4.0.6 and I had another problem:

ltconfig: too many arguments
Try `ltconfig --help' for more information.
configure: error: libtool configure failed

Is it impossible to compile PHP on a RedHat 7.2 box?
