The 2.1 release is years out of date. To fix this issue, download the current source from CVS, or apply the below patch which should bring your php_spread.c up to date. This will not work with "pecl install." The people maintaining this module do so for their own personal benefit and don't appear to prioritize keeping releases up to date for others to use. (Perils of "free" I guess.) To build it by hand, briefly: 1) Download the 2.1 release. ("Download Latest" on the package home page) 2) Extract it. (tar -xf) 3) Apply the patch below. (patch) 4) Preconfigure it. (phpize) 5) Configure it. (./configure) 6) Build it. (make) 7) Install it.
