We have just upgraded from 4.0.0 to 4.0.3pl1 and we are having the same problem.  That is, under 4.0.0, the absence of parameters when calling a function does NOT generate a warning, but under 4.0.3pl1, we get this warning and we do NOT want it.  However, we do want to see other warnings so we are hesitant to suppress other warnings by adding "& ~E_WARNING".  We feel that this situation should be an E_NOTICE, not an E_WARNING.

This was reported under a different bug on 11/3 and Zeev has said that it was not a problem, but I think there is some confusion because this simply was not a warning under PHP4.0.0 and because variable length argument lists are a new feature in 4.0, we strongly feel this should not be issued as an error.

You can always use @ in front of those functions which generate
a warning.
