Standard PHP module, as described in the README.SELF-CONTAINED-EXTENSIONS file.

#/usr/local/bin/phpize
#./configure --with-php-config=/usr/local/bin/php-config

The last command doesn't produce a Makefile, but it should.

config.m4 :

PHP_ARG_WITH(pam. whether to include pam support,
[  --with-pam[=DIR]   blahblah  ])

if test "$PHP_PAM" != "no"; then
PHP_EXTENSION(pam, $ext_shared)
// some extra lib checks. Not important
fi

Makefile.in

LTLIBRARY_SHARED_NAME = php.la
LTLIBRARY_SOURCES     = php.c

include $(topdir)/build/dynlib.mk
