date_create_from_format() returns a DateTime object. That object is not "formatted" in any way, yet the functions's description reads:
Returns new DateTime object formatted according to the specified format

Clearly, what the author meant was:
Returns a new DateTime object representing the date and time specified by the specified string, which was formatted in the specified format

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
