Description:
------------
The documentation doesn't clarify the status of APC. It seems that
APC has been superseeded by OPcache (resp. APCU and the session
upload progress API), but that is neither mentioned on the manual
page[1], nor in the relevant migration guides[2], nor on the PECL
page[3].

Since I for some reason have an issue getting back on SVN so I can't really do anything, but I will get that fixed sometime soon.

I propose we add some new entities for deprecated/unmaintained/etc extensions that can be used to advertise on each manual page, like functions, setup, ...

But this is a large task, going over every extension in phpdoc/reference/ and adding them is a huge task.

But as an (ex) maintainer of APC, I can confirm that APC's development is ceased like I stated in the bug report you have linked to in the Wfx APC bugs.

Thanks for the confirmation.

We already have quite a lot of snippets regarding deprecation in
language-snippets.ent, and also &pecl.info.dead;. Still it might
be necessary to add more snippets.

For a start, I would suggest adding respective notes to the
introduction chapters of the manual, and to the PECL intro pages.
