The English version of the return value section is: "On error, if the SoapClient object was constructed with the exceptions option set to FALSE, a SoapFault object will be returned."

The German version is: "Wenn das SoapClient-Objekt mit trace=FALSE erstellt wurde, wird bei einem Fehler ein SoapFault-Objekt zurückgegeben."

Obviously, the German version should say "exceptions=FALSE" and not "trace=FALSE" as it is the case at the moment.
