Description:
------------
The latest php.net site does not display properly in Windows IE 8 (and perhaps any IE). As a web developer, I use several browser for testing. It can be an inconvenience when I happen to be using IE to have to open a different browser just to see php.net. That's become a real nuissance as I have heavely relied on php.net since 2000. That's 14 years now. ;( Would love to see this site work in IE. I have tried with both Compat mode on and off. Am I possibly missing some other setting to make php.net display better in IE? Thanks and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. Thanks! -Nicole

Test script:
---------------
n/a

Expected result:
----------------
Proper display of php.net in IE 8.

Actual result:
--------------
Terrible display of php.net. Can't use it in IE 8.

Hello,

it's sad to say, but we actually just doesn't support IE 8. I know that there's no newer version available on Windows XP, but this system is also unsupported since April.

Our support for IE is based actually on workarounds contributed by volounteers. Of course, proper displaying of PHP.net in new browsers is on of our goals, however IE8 isn't new and current versions made great progress.

I'm considering changing status of your report to "Won't be fixed", but of course if anyone wants to contribute some fixes/workarounds for IE8, we will accept them and commit into repository.

Best regards,
Maciej.

Your statement is actually incorrect; these latest changes did not break any functionality that I know of. In fact, it even fixes the problem where the related functions would display above the content and you'd have to scroll past the list. It's technically better now.

That being said IE 8 isn't respecting the padding at all so things are squished. Since IE 8 is *three* generations behind the current release we don't support it. That being said I'm feeling courteous today so I'll try to find a Windows XP VM and see what I can do.

PHP.net's support for browsers only covers current stable and prior release and this issue is related to an unsupported OS/Browser combination I am closing this one off.

Should someone want to support this, feel free to reopen and assign.
