Initially report was filed at Launchpad: 
https://bugs.launchpad.net/gearmand/+bug/1078237

As Ilya Sabelnikov pointed out it appears that a problem is related to setting 
exception option every time GearmanWorker::work() is called.

I successfully applied the patch Ilya provided:
