Well this is awkward... this seems to happens as of php 5.4.4

Test script:

<?php
$reflection = new \ReflectionClass(new \Exception('...'));
var_dump($reflection->getProperty('trace')->getName());
var_dump($reflection->getProperty('previous')->getName());

Expected result:
----------------
string(5) "trace"
string(8) "previous"


Actual result:
--------------
string(14) "trace"e��0�w	"
string(8) "previous"

I can't replicate that here on Ubuntu. Do you have any other extensions 
installed? APC, XDebug, etc. ?

APC is enabled, but disabled on CLI.

This reminds me of issues with \RuntimeException;

Seems to be fixed in 5.4.5
