In order to configure on Mac OS X I had to make the following change.

In configure @line 4451:

  SSDEEP_LIB_FILENAME="lib$SSDEEP_LIB_NAME.so"

changed to:

   SSDEEP_LIB_FILENAME="lib$SSDEEP_LIB_NAME.dylib"
