If your page contains include files and PHP functions inside the include files you can not set a session variable inside that function. It will not be set. It can be set outside of the function only.

Please provide a reduced code fragment producing this behaviour.

Please verify that it?s still happening using the latest version of PHP (release 4.0.1pl2 or CVS).
