It would be useful to add support for key namespacing by prepending key names with string, set through an ini option for example in vhost section of Apache config. It would prevent key name collisions in case there are more applications, using APC storage, hosted on one server. It would be also more secure than prefixing keys at application level, because it prevents accessing keys from other namespaces at all. eAccelerator has similar option:

APC is no longer supported in favor of opcache that comes bundled with PHP, if you wish to use the user cache, then look at PECL/APCu.
